Take Control of Your Spreadsheets Changes
The Auditors Assistant compares any two spreadsheets and shows the user what structural or data changes have taken place. It performs this task without any monitoring or control of the spreadsheet during the change period, or prior knowledge of what the changes might be. For example, it can discern a row inserted in the middle of a spreadsheet from one added to the bottom, and compare cells within existing rows accordingly.
When used within a straightforward testing & approval process, Auditors Assistant
will identify, assess and log changes and risks of both a visible and hidden nature,
including data, formula, links & macros, creating a robust yet unobtrusive enterprise
level controlled spreadsheet environment.
To fully appreciate its benefits, we strongly recommend you explore Auditors Assistant’s
features for yourself free for 14 days. You may also wish to take a brief tour of the
four primary instruments in the toolkit, demonstrated below.

Risk Report | Contents Difference Report | Hidden Difference Report | Formula Map
Risk Report
The Difference Risk Report uses DiffXL™ technology to analyze the core structure of any
two spreadsheets and returns a ‘traffic-light’ report (red/amber/green) on the likelihood
of material errors caused by accidental or deliberate modifications in each worksheet.
When run regularly, this report forms the basis of a comprehensive governance and
spreadsheet management system for your company’s spreadsheets.
Contents Difference Report
The contents difference or cell-comparison report complements a conventional ‘change-list’
with a customizable, color-coded visual report including a drill-down facility. Its
advanced row & column matching algorithms compensate for any moved, inserted or
deleted rows/columns automatically, and small or expected changes can be filtered
from the results.
Hidden Differences Report
The source of many unexpected changes is often behind-the-scenes, and overlooked
by traditional change reports. The hidden differences report highlights and logs
‘buried’ differences between workbooks, such as variances in linked files, modifications
to range names and variances in VBA / macros.
Formula Map
Although not strictly required for governance or audit purposes, the formula map offers
a valuable color-coded insight into the workings of an unfamiliar workbook, and
has highlighted many anomalies and previously unknown errors.
